British Indian Ocean Territory Introduces Anti-Money Laundering Training Program

The British Indian Ocean Territory has launched an anti-money laundering (AML) training program for professionals working in the territory, aimed at enhancing financial regulations and combating money laundering risks.

Course Details

  • The nine-month part-time course is offered by the International Compliance Association (ICA) and is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage money laundering risks.
  • The course combines online study with live virtual classrooms delivered through interactive technology, making it accessible for busy professionals.
  • Participants will learn about:
    • The international AML and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) framework
    • Identifying laundering of proceeds from tax evasion
    • Recognizing terrorism financing and proliferation financing
    • Complying with sanctions regimes

Assessment and Program Structure

  • Participants will be assessed through a series of timed end-of-module assessments, a written assignment focusing on industry sectors, and a case-study based assignment connecting up their learning.

    • Sound educational background
    • Attainment of an ICA International Advanced Certificate
    • Three years’ relevant work experience
