Strengthening Financial Regulations through AML Training
The British Indian Ocean Territory has launched an anti-money laundering (AML) training program for professionals working in the territory, aimed at enhancing financial regulations and combating money laundering risks.
Course Details
- The nine-month part-time course is offered by the International Compliance Association (ICA) and is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to effectively manage money laundering risks.
- The course combines online study with live virtual classrooms delivered through interactive technology, making it accessible for busy professionals.
- Participants will learn about:
- The international AML and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) framework
- Identifying laundering of proceeds from tax evasion
- Recognizing terrorism financing and proliferation financing
- Complying with sanctions regimes
Assessment and Program Structure
- Participants will be assessed through a series of timed end-of-module assessments, a written assignment focusing on industry sectors, and a case-study based assignment connecting up their learning.

- Money laundering reporting officers (MLROs)
- Police and financial intelligence unit (FIU) staff
