Andorra Makes Voluntary Contribution to Support Financial Crime Victims in International Criminal Court
The Trust Fund for Victims, a vital organization at the International Criminal Court (ICC), has announced that the government of Andorra made a generous voluntary contribution of EUR 10,000 in 2022.
A Significant Donation
This donation exceeds 70% of Andorra’s annual assessed contribution to the ICC and will be used to support programs addressing sexual and gender-based crimes. The Trust Fund relies on contributions from states like Andorra to provide vital assistance to survivors of the most heinous human rights violations.
Commitment to the ICC
Ambassador of Andorra to the Netherlands, H.E. Mrs Esther Rabasa Grau, emphasized the country’s commitment to the ICC, stating that the voluntary contribution reiterates its support for the essential work of the Trust Fund for Victims.
Gratitude and Mission
Franziska Eckelmans, Acting Executive Director of the Trust Fund for Victims, expressed gratitude for Andorra’s donation, saying it will aid in the organization’s mission to create a more just world for victims of Rome Statute crimes. The Trust Fund and ICC together form the pillar of the reparative justice system, with transformative reparations at its core.
Focus on Empowering Survivors
The trust fund focuses on empowering survivors of conflict-related sexual violence through its partners, aiming to overcome harm and mitigate negative transgenerational effects. Voluntary contributions enable the organization’s programs and support its role in achieving justice, sustainable development, peace, and stability.
Programs and Initiatives
To date, the Trust Fund is implementing programs in four reparation cases ordered by the ICC, with additional funds urgently needed for a program in one of these cases. The trust fund has also engaged in a fifth reparations proceeding since 2021. It conducts country programs in several countries, including:
- Central African Republic
- Côte d’Ivoire
- Uganda
And plans to launch new initiatives in:
- Georgia
- Kenya
