Anguilla Takes Stand Against Financing of Terrorism
Anguilla has demonstrated its commitment to combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) and preventing money laundering by aligning itself with international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). This move solidifies Anguilla’s position as a responsible international player in the fight against terrorism financing and money laundering.
Enhanced Legislative Framework
In 2009, Anguilla bolstered its legislative framework through the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), which now serves as a robust foundation for anti-money laundering and CFT efforts. The POCA is supported by two key regulations:
- Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Regulations: This regulation captures all financial service providers and non-profit organisations under subsidiary legislation listed in Schedule 2 of the AML/CFT Regulations.
- Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Code: This code is designed to prevent and detect money laundering and terrorist financing, ensuring the integrity of Anguilla’s financial system.
International Standards and Commitment
By embracing these measures, Anguilla has demonstrated its commitment to international standards set by the FATF. This move safeguards the well-being of its citizens and ensures the integrity of its financial system.
