The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in Anguilla has emphasized the importance of reporting entities promptly and accurately filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) following guidelines provided by the unit. These reports play a pivotal role in investigating money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, and other financial crimes.
Guidance for Filing SARs
The Anguilla FIU has released updated Guidance Notes to help reporting institutions effectively complete and submit SARs. The notes should be used as a reference to ensure thorough and accurate completion of SARs.
Key Guidance for SARs

General Guidance: Review the general guidance on the SAR form located on the top left of the form.

Form Structure: The form consists of six sections:
- Section 1: Reporting Entity and Affected Accounts
- Section 2: Subject of Suspicion or Activity
- Section 3: Suspicious Activity
- Section 4: Contact Information for the Person Preparing the Form
- Section 5: Contact Information for the Person to be Contacted for Clarification
- Section 6: Detailed Explanation of the Suspicious Activity

Section 1: Provide details of the reporting entity and the affected accounts.

Section 2: Include information about the subject of the suspicion or activity, along with any additional relevant details in Section 6.

Section 3: Provide information about the suspicious activity, including the date, amount, and type of currency.

Sections 4 and 5: Fill out contact information for the person who prepared the form and the person to be contacted for clarification (if different). These sections allow for the provision of a file or reference number.
