Baiduri Bank Takes a Leap Forward in Online Banking Security with New Cooling Period Feature
In a bold move to stay ahead of fraudsters, Baiduri Bank, Brunei Darussalam’s leading bank, has introduced a 12-hour cooling period for its online banking services. This innovative measure is designed to safeguard customers’ data and financial interests, building on the success of similar initiatives launched by banks in neighboring Singapore and Malaysia earlier this year.
A Commitment to Customer Security
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure that our customers can enjoy the convenience of online banking with confidence,” said Ti Eng Hui, CEO of Baiduri Bank. “Safeguarding our customers’ data and financial interests is our utmost priority, and we believe this added security layer will play a significant role in protecting their financial accounts.”
How the Cooling Period Feature Works
The new feature kicks in immediately when customers:
- Register or install the Baiduri b. Digital Personal mobile app for the first time
- Delete and reinstall the app on the same device
- De-register from one device and install it on another
- Change their mobile number
During this 12-hour window, no transactions or changes can be made to the account, including:
• Bill payments • Fund transfers • Top-ups • Adding new beneficiaries • Enabling or disabling face/ID • Changing limits, passwords, mPINs, and email addresses
This temporary restriction is designed to prevent fraudulent access and give users time to report any suspicious activity.
Reporting Incidents and Suspicous Activities
Customers will receive an SMS notification when the cooling period ends, as well as a pop-up message displaying the status of temporarily restricted features in Baiduri b. Digital Personal. To report any incidents or suspicious activities, customers are encouraged to contact Baiduri Bank’s 24-Hour Customer Helpline at 244 9666.
