Belize Tightens AML CFT Regulations in Line with International Obligations
Belize has reaffirmed its commitment to combating money laundering and terrorism financing by updating its regulatory framework. The Money Laundering and Terrorism (Prevention) Act, Chapter 104 of the Substantive Laws of Belize Revised Edition 2020 imposes significant obligations on reporting entities operating in the country.
International Cooperation and Compliance
As a member of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF), Belize is working closely with international partners to implement measures aimed at preventing the misuse of its financial system. The country has committed to complying with the objectives set forth by the Financial Action Task Force and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
