Whistleblower Protection Laws in Fiji Get Boost with New Reporting Process

============================================================

The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) has revamped its whistleblower policy to encourage members of the public, staff, and external stakeholders to report any fraudulent acts, unethical behavior, or breaches of FRCS legislation, regulations, and policies. The new reporting process aims to ensure that whistleblowers can confidentially disclose information without fear of retribution.

New Reporting Process

A Whistleblower Reporting Form has been introduced for individuals to fill out with relevant details necessary to evaluate the credibility of their referral. The form is available on the FRCS website and can be downloaded and completed before being sent back to the dedicated email address WBInfo@frcs.org.fj.

Alternatively, individuals who cannot lodge their forms electronically can:

  • Send a sealed envelope containing the completed form and relevant documentation to:
    • The Chief Executive Officer, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service
    • Private Mail Bag, Suva
    • Or deliver it to Level 4, Building 3, FRCS Complex at Nasese, Suva

Confidentiality and Investigation Process

FRCS assures the public that all whistleblower referrals will be treated with the strictest confidentiality. The reported information will undergo a thorough investigation process to ensure that any fraudulent acts or unethical behavior is addressed.

Financial Reward Mechanism

A financial reward mechanism has been put in place for successful tax and duty recovery resulting from a whistleblower’s referral.
