Quotes from Key Stakeholders

Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, Judge Faiq Zaidan

“The program aims to strengthen investigative judges’ procedures and tactics in approaching and leading complex financial crime investigations, in collaboration with colleagues from various government agencies.”

US Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller

“Efficient tools and policies are necessary to investigate and prosecute financial crimes, as they often motivate individuals to engage in criminal activities for personal enrichment, hurting the Iraqi state and people.”

UNDP Resident Representative Ms Zena Ali-Ahmad

“The program acknowledges how complex financial crimes such as corruption, money laundering, and illicit accumulation of wealth contribute to an atmosphere of privilege and injustice. These crimes hinder Iraq’s economic recovery, stability, and development, and UNDP stands ready to work with institutions to combat them.”

Project Funding

The project has been funded by the US Government and is part of UNDP Iraq’s Security Sector Reform/Rule of Law Programme.
