Tunisia Takes Steps to Boost Forensic Accounting and Financial Analysis Capabilities

Enhancing Economic Crime Investigation and Combating Corruption

In a significant move aimed at strengthening its ability to combat economic crimes, Tunisia recently hosted a three-day training on forensic accounting for representatives of key authorities in the country. The event, which took place from December 17 to 19, brought together practitioners from the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC), the Economic, Judicial and Financial Authority, the Economic Brigade (Ministry of the Interior), and the General Control of Public Services at the Presidency of the Government.

Objectives of the Training

The training was designed to equip participants with the necessary tools and methods for introducing forensic accounting techniques in their investigations. The activity also explored the need for coordination mechanisms in the economic crime area, with a focus on international standards and best practices.

Organizers and Partners

Organized by the Tunisia Anti-corruption Project (TAC) in collaboration with INLUCC, the training was part of the European Union/Council of Europe joint “Project to Support Independent Bodies in Tunisia” (PAII-T). The initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities of independent bodies in Tunisia, including anti-corruption agencies, to effectively combat economic crimes and promote transparency.
