Anti-Corruption Committee’s Activities in 2022

The Anti-Corruption Committee of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia took significant steps in combating corruption in 2022. Here are some key highlights from their activities last year.

Completed Cases and Verdicts

Successful Prosecution of Former Officials

  • Two criminal cases were completed and handed down to courts in 2022:
    • Case Against V.G.: A former investigator who failed to submit a declaration on termination of official duties for 2020 was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 314.2 of the RA Criminal Code (adopted on April 18, 2003 and expired on July 1, 2022) and received a fine of AMD 1,020,000.
    • Case Against A.M.: A former deputy head of the Mrgavan community who failed to submit declarations was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 314.2 of the RA Criminal Code (adopted on April 18, 2003 and expired on July 1, 2022) and received a sentence of imprisonment for one year with deprivation of senior positions in state bodies and local self-government bodies for one year.

Ongoing Investigations

  • One criminal case against one person is ongoing, charging deliberate failure to submit a declaration.
  • Four criminal cases against seven persons are under investigation for concealing data eligible for declaration.
