Nauru Revenue Office Launches Compliance Training for Financial Professionals
Improving Tax Administration and Promoting Voluntary Compliance in Nauru
The Nauru Revenue Office (NRO) has announced the launch of a comprehensive compliance training program for financial professionals in Nauru, aimed at improving tax administration and promoting voluntary compliance among taxpayers.
Enhancing Skills and Knowledge
The training initiative is part of the NRO’s commitment to implementing its core functions, including timely revenue collection, enforcement with international institutions, and enforcement and compliance with revenue legislation. The program will focus on equipping financial professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate complex taxation laws and regulations.
“We recognize that tax compliance is a critical component of our country’s economic development,” said a spokesperson for the NRO. “Our goal is to create a stable and trustworthy environment for businesses and individuals alike, by providing high-quality training and support services.”
Program Highlights
- Covers topics such as taxation, superannuation, and price control regulations
- Features interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises designed to help financial professionals apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios
Promoting Transparency and Accountability
In addition to the compliance training, the NRO is also introducing several initiatives aimed at promoting transparency and accountability within the tax administration system. These include:
- A taxpayer charter outlining the rights and obligations of taxpayers
- Measures to enhance public trust and confidence in the tax system
International Recognition
The NRO’s commitment to improving tax compliance and governance has already received international recognition, with Nauru receiving a “largely compliant” rating from the OECD Global Forum in June 2019. The country is also working closely with international partners to achieve compliance with OECD Standards and EU Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Inclusive Framework minimum standards commitments.
Eligibility and Registration
The compliance training program will be open to all financial professionals in Nauru, including accountants, auditors, and tax agents. Registration details will be announced shortly on the NRO’s website.
