Romania’s Financial Professionals Get Compliance Training Boost

The Romanian Banking Institute (RBI) has launched a new initiative to enhance the knowledge and expertise of finance professionals in Romania by offering compliance training programs leading to the Global Financial Compliance (GFC) qualification.

Partnership with École Supérieure des Affaires (ESA)

In partnership with ESA, an accredited training provider for Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) qualifications, RBI is providing a comprehensive introduction to international compliance. The GFC program covers key aspects of compliance, including:

  • International regulatory environment
  • Managing financial crime risk
  • Governance
  • Ethics
  • Integrity
  • Fairness

Program Details

The training package includes:

  • A study plan spanning approximately five to six months
  • An induction course
  • Revision course
  • Tutor support throughout the program
  • CISI-authored study guides and lecturer materials
  • A CISI-issued workbook

Eligibility and Examination

The GFC qualification is suitable for all compliance staff, with special relevance to Compliance Officers. The program covers five key elements:

  1. International regulatory environment
  2. The compliance function
  3. Managing financial crime risk
  4. Ethics, integrity, and fairness
  5. Governance, risk management, and compliance

Examination subjects include:

  • International regulation
  • Compliance functions
  • Financial crime risk management
  • Ethics
  • Corporate governance

Candidates will sit a 100-question multiple-choice exam lasting two hours, with a minimum pass mark of 70%.

Program Leader

Leading the GFC program is lecturer Samar Baasiri, CAMS, who brings over 20 years of international banking experience to the course. With her extensive expertise in anti-money laundering policies and procedures, Ms. Baasiri is well-equipped to guide students through the complexities of financial compliance.

Upcoming Program Launch

The next series of the Global Financial Compliance Program is set to launch on October 23, 2023, with application deadlines on October 6, 2023. Candidates can register by filling out a registration form and submitting required documents:

  • CV in English
  • Copy of identity card
  • Legalized copy of Bachelor’s Degree
