Compliance Officer Duties in Uganda

As the Senior Risk and Compliance Officer at VisionFund Uganda, it is crucial to identify and manage risks while ensuring that the organization remains compliant with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities


Risk Identification and Assessment

  • Identify and assess risks associated with current and proposed future business activities, including new products and new business relationships before their formal undertaking.
  • Design and update an inventory of essential laws, regulations, and guidelines that govern the microfinance business.

Centralized Information Hub

  • Centralize all information on risk and compliance-related issues within VisionFund Uganda for ease of access by all staff.

Staff Education and Training

  • Periodically educate and train staff or parties that work closely with VisionFund Uganda in risk-related matters.
  • Induce new staff on compliance requirements.

Stakeholder Liaison

  • Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to resolve VisionFund Uganda’s risk and compliance matters.

Compliance Checks and Reporting

  • Review branch portfolios periodically to ensure compliance.
  • Keep track of new laws and regulations.
  • Conduct compliance checks and present reports to their immediate supervisor.

Requirements


  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Professional Qualifications:
    • Professional accounting or audit qualification (an added advantage)
    • Diploma in Law (an added advantage)

Over 4 years’ experience in risk and compliance activities in a regulated financial institution.

Physical Demands


Occasional field travels from time to time.
