Compliance Officer Job Description in Palau

The Office of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) has announced an exciting job opportunity for a Compliance Officer based in Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the PNA Office team, the Compliance Officer will report to the Policy Manager and be responsible for:

  • Coordinating consultation between Parties on inter-party compliance incidents and issues
  • Preparing reports and advice on compliance with VDS provisions
  • Providing support for the implementation of Nauru Agreement Implementing Arrangements

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in fisheries management, fisheries law, or a relevant discipline from a recognized institution
  • High computer literacy
  • Proven experience in communicating effectively with high-level government officials
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in English
  • Detailed knowledge of PNA measures and processes

Key Responsibilities

The Compliance Officer will work closely with the CEO to support compliance-related proposals at PNA meetings and government officials. They must be able to:

  • Analyze compliance by Parties with VDS provisions and PNA management measures
  • Provide ideas and advice on compliance issues

Additional Requirements

The position requires a strong understanding of:

  • Observer operations
  • Tuna fishing industry operations and compliance issues in the Pacific
  • Experience in tuna fishery compliance or management
