Compliance Officer Responsibilities in British Virgin Islands

The Government of the British Virgin Islands is seeking a new Compliance Officer to assist with monitoring and auditing control structures and mechanisms, as well as current and prospective risks that may impact the organization’s compliance with internal and external procedural, operational, and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and prepare schedules for compliance inspections to ensure efficient operations within the unit and department
- Assess internal controls and make recommendations in accordance with defined procedural, operational, and legal standards and requirements
- Identify, assess, and compile various data obtained from interviews, audit visits, and observations to ensure accuracy
- Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as instructed to stay aware of any changes in policies or procedures that may be relevant to the role
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Three years of working experience in a related area
- Sound knowledge of Government structure, policies, and procedures
- Sound knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of standard office equipment and computer applications
- Analytical and decision-making skills
- Interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
Additional Requirements
- Perform any other related duties as required by their Supervisor or any other senior officer in order to contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department
