British Virgin Islands Seeks Experienced Compliance Officer
The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC) has announced a job opening for a suitably experienced Compliance Officer to join a successful trust company in Tortola.
Job Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a compliance role within a regulated entity
- Must be approved by the BVI FSC in order to hold the role
Responsibilities
As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s activities comply with FSC regulations as well as other overseas regulatory obligations. Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Developing Policies and Procedures:
- Developing policies and procedures to monitor the business
- Updating and regularly reviewing compliance procedures, manuals, and controls
- Compliance Sign-Off:
- Carrying out compliance sign-off on advertising and marketing materials
- Liaising with Regulators:
- Liaising with the FSC and building strong relationships
- Risk Management:
- Identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, developing corrective action plans, and providing guidance on best practices
- Reporting and Communication:
- Providing regular reports to keep senior management informed of compliance efforts
- Acting as the primary liaison with the sales team to ensure timely completion of agreements, documentation, and due-diligence questionnaires
- Regulatory Knowledge:
- Maintaining knowledge on regulatory issues, new legislation, company policies, and products
Additional Responsibilities
In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also be expected to:
- Respond promptly to complaints and enquiries
- Draft new procedures as necessary
- Prepare agendas and packs for board and management meetings
- Review corporate governance in line with regulations
- Store relevant documentation
- Prepare board packs for British Virgin Island funds
