About the Role:

Our client, a leading financial services organization in Barbados, is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s Anti-Money Laundering and Combatting the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance program is effectively implemented and monitored.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen Compliance Program: Suggest improvements to policies and procedures to strengthen the company’s compliance program.
  • Monitor and Execute Compliance Program: Assist in monitoring and executing the company’s compliance program.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the organization is fully compliant with AML/CFT requirements of regulatory bodies.
  • File Declaration of Source of Income Forms: Assist in filing hard copies of Declaration of Source of Income Forms and electronically storing information from these forms.
  • Develop Product Forms and Disclosures: Develop and revise product forms and disclosures as necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Capture Required Information on Forms: Ensure systems are in place to capture required information on forms and educate staff on FIU requirements.
  • Comply with FIU Requirements: Comply with FIU requirements.
  • Ensure Statutory Compliance: Ensure the organization is fully compliant with statutory and legal requirements, including but not limited to Cooperative Societies Act, Financial Services Commission (FSC) guidelines, Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), and other applicable legislation and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance: Degree in accounting, banking, finance, or related field.
  • Experience in a Financial Environment: 5+ years of experience in a financial environment.
  • Knowledge of Legislation and Regulations: Knowledge of legislation and regulations.
  • Strong IT Skills: Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Analytical and Detail-Oriented Skills: Good analytical skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently.
