The Assurance & Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that trade facilitation and compliance activities are carried out effectively in Fiji. Key Responsibilities

Biosecurity Audits and Inspections

  • Conduct Biosecurity Approved Premises (BAP) import audits and exports audits
  • Conduct facility inspections for fumigation and processing reports and compliance certificates
  • Process export licenses
  • Inspect and audit food-producing premises

Support to Other Departments

  • Assist the Animals and Plants Permit section
  • Respond to all emails received at info@baf.com.fj
  • Seek relevant department advice in cases where inquiries relate to specific products or requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Attend meetings with stakeholders to address market access issues and non-compliance matters
  • Maintain records for all BAP import/export activities
  • Assist the Team Leader with any other duties assigned

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Authority
  • Maintain a satisfactory understanding of customer service, civic pride, and its dynamics
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Specialized qualifications in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Plant Protection, and Nematology

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum qualification: degree in Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Marine Science, Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Animal Husbandry, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry
  • Alternatively, diploma in one of these fields combined with at least five years of qualifying experience may be considered

Experience and Skills

  • At least three years’ experience and knowledge in identifying and mitigating potential risks and issues related to sanitary and phytosanitary measures
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role
