Yako Bank Seeks Compliance Officer to Oversee Financial Institution’s Operations
Job Summary
Yako Bank (U) Limited, a licensed credit institution by the Bank of Uganda, is seeking a highly qualified Compliance Officer to ensure that its operations are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Monitoring the bank’s activities and identifying potential risks or compliance issues
- Taking corrective action to maintain regulatory compliance
- Implementing internal controls and providing guidance and training on compliance matters
- Conducting internal audits to ensure the bank meets its compliance obligations
- Developing plans to address potential regulatory compliance risks
- Conducting regular reviews of the bank’s processes to identify weaknesses in regulatory compliance
Key Responsibilities
The Compliance Officer will also be responsible for:
- Preparing periodic reports and conducting reviews of policies and procedures
- Developing and implementing a compliance agenda
- Supporting the head of the department as a Money Laundering Control Officer when needed
- Establishing a systematic approach to risk assessment
- Developing in-house training modules on anti-money laundering (AML), combating the financing of terrorism (CFT), and combating the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (CPF) compliance
Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must:
- Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in law, business management or a related field
- Have at least two years of hands-on experience as a compliance officer in a bank or financial institution
- Possess strong knowledge of legal requirements and controls
- Demonstrate excellent analytical and risk management skills
- Be able to work well in a team environment
