The British Virgin Islands is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to strengthen its international ties and maintain a comprehensive compliance regime. The Role
As a key member of the International Tax Authority (ITA), the successful applicant will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data to inform recommendations on issues such as:
- Automatic exchange of information
- Common reporting standards
- Foreign account tax compliance act
- Base erosion and profit sharing
- The European Union Savings Directive
The Compliance Officer will also advise on policy responses to global economic, social, and other developments that impact the territory’s interests.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting in Assessing Existing Compliance Regime and Providing Recommendations for Policy Responses
Advising on Technical and Strategic Recommendations for International Cooperation Matters
Preparing Examination Programs and Supervising Compliance Examiners’ Work
Monitoring Collection of Registration and Filing Fees for Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act
Coordinating Research and Preparing Periodic Reports for Management
Collecting and Analyzing Data, Interpreting Findings, and Preparing Topics for Discussion and Decision-Making
Preparing Correspondence and Reports, and Assisting in Drafting Materials for Local and International Publication
Coordinating Monthly Reporting Processes
Providing Administrative Support to Management
Communicating with Local, Regional, and International Agencies
Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs/Business, Economics, Social/Political Science, or related field
Experience
- Three to five years of relevant experience
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of government structure, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of standard office equipment and computer applications
- Good knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Financial services industry in the Virgin Islands
- Ability to analyze data, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively in writing and orally
