Compliance Officer Roles and Responsibilities Take Center Stage in Lebanon’s Academic Landscape
The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) at the Lebanese American University (LAU) has launched a search for a Compliance Officer to join its Beirut-based team. This new role is crucial in ensuring that the university adheres to regulatory requirements and awards’ principles in all aspects of grant management.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Management
- Review deliverables prior to submission to donor agencies
- Collaborate with finance teams to ensure cost allowability
- Work closely with technical staff on time and attendance validation
Compliance Requirements
- Assist in implementing compliance requirements, including:
- Marking and procurement
- Sub-awarding matters
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (public administration, political science, or social sciences)
Experience
- At least three years of experience in grant-related functions, such as:
- Compliance
- Grant management
- Donor-funded project coordination
Language and Communication Skills
- Fluency in English and Arabic
- Excellent writing and communication skills
Additional Responsibilities
- Review deliverables for consistency with requirements
- Ensure timely submission of timesheets and effort certificates
- Assist the OGC Director in implementing a regular training program for staff on compliance requirements
