Compliance Officer Roles and Responsibilities Take Center Stage in Lebanon’s Academic Landscape

The Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) at the Lebanese American University (LAU) has launched a search for a Compliance Officer to join its Beirut-based team. This new role is crucial in ensuring that the university adheres to regulatory requirements and awards’ principles in all aspects of grant management.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Management

  • Review deliverables prior to submission to donor agencies
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure cost allowability
  • Work closely with technical staff on time and attendance validation

Compliance Requirements

  • Assist in implementing compliance requirements, including:
    • Marking and procurement
    • Sub-awarding matters

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (public administration, political science, or social sciences)

Experience

  • At least three years of experience in grant-related functions, such as:
    • Compliance
    • Grant management
    • Donor-funded project coordination

Language and Communication Skills

  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Excellent writing and communication skills

Additional Responsibilities

  • Review deliverables for consistency with requirements
  • Ensure timely submission of timesheets and effort certificates
  • Assist the OGC Director in implementing a regular training program for staff on compliance requirements
