A key position has opened up at Basmeh & Zeitooneh, a Lebanese non-profit organization dedicated to serving refugees and vulnerable communities across the country. The Compliance and Internal Control Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to local laws, donor requirements, and internal policies.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will develop, implement, and monitor systems and processes to manage and mitigate compliance risks for Lebanon operations. They will also contribute to maintaining sound internal controls and efficient operations, providing training and guidance to staff on compliance matters and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Program Development

  • Develop a comprehensive compliance program aligned with local laws, donor requirements, and organizational policies
  • Conduct regular reviews of internal processes and procedures to identify potential compliance risks

Internal Controls

  • Collaborate with relevant departments to establish and maintain effective internal controls
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and propose enhancements or corrective measures as needed

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as law, finance, business administration, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, internal auditing, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework for NGOs in Lebanon
  • Familiarity with international donor compliance requirements is an asset
