Turks and Caicos Islands Government Vacancy: Compliance Officer Responsibilities

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government has announced a vacancy for a Compliance Officer to provide legal advice and guidance to the Energy and Utilities Department.

Job Responsibilities

As a key member of the department, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal and regulatory advice on complex issues related to energy, water, sewage, and petroleum sectors
  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure TCIG interests are protected
  • Conducting legal research, interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and policies
  • Providing guidance to management on regulatory changes
  • Assisting with reviewing and issuing licenses and permits
  • Keeping the department informed of any changes in regulations that may impact operations of companies within the sector

Additionally, the Compliance Officer will be required to:

  • Conduct or assist in civil litigation by and against the government
  • Provide training to employees on regulatory compliance
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Energy and Utilities Commissioner

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor of Laws degree
  • A Legal Profession Certificate
  • At least 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance for the energy, water, sewage, or petroleum sectors, preferably with a law firm or regulatory agency
  • Strong knowledge of regulations related to energy, water, sewage, and petroleum sectors within the Turks and Caicos Islands
  • Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is Grade 9.1, with a starting annual salary of $75,363.00.
