Compliance Officer Responsibilities and Duties in Lesotho

Lesana Financial Services has announced a vacancy for a Statutory & Compliance Officer (Lesotho) to strengthen its compliance functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering statutory functions and implementing compliance management for the company.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of the compliance team, the officer will ensure that Lesana Lesotho Limited complies with all relevant legislation, including the Companies Act. Specific duties include:
- Administering meetings of directors and shareholders in line with the group’s finance calendar and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Preparing and filing annual returns
- Submitting regulatory filings related to changes in share capital, shareholders, directors, officers, and other company information
- Reviewing and monitoring internal practices and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and current policies
- Analyzing and reporting on new or proposed rules or regulations that may impact the business
- Liaising with regulators and managing on-site inspections and report backs
Additional Responsibilities
The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
- Conducting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) assessments, monitoring, screening, reporting, and ensuring that processes and systems meet company policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements
- Providing input to the group in terms of establishing controls to mitigate risks
- Updating, monitoring, and reporting on compliance-related matters, including breaches, material incidents, near misses, and compliance reports to management and the Group Compliance Officers
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- A relevant undergraduate qualification (BA LLB or similar degree is preferable)
- At least three years’ experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry
- Familiarity with and knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in Africa will be an advantage

Location and Compensation
The position is based at Lesana’s office in Maseru, Lesotho. The successful candidate will receive an annual cost-to-company remuneration package commensurate with the technical skills and experience of the successful candidate.
