Yako Bank Seeks Financial Institution Compliance Officer in Uganda

Job Summary

Kampala, Uganda - Yako Bank (U) Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Institution Compliance Officer to join its team at the Head Office in Kampala.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the bank adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and policies
• Monitor the bank’s activities, identify potential risks or compliance issues, and take corrective action to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements
• Support the achievement of profitability through management of departmental objectives
• Develop plans to address potential regulatory compliance risk
• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance obligations are met
• Implement internal controls
• Provide guidance and training on compliance matters
• Develop and deliver compliance risk training programs across the bank

Requirements

Education

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in law, business management or a similar field

Experience

• At least two years’ hands-on experience as a compliance officer in a bank or financial institution

Skills

• Strong knowledge of legal requirements and controls
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical skills
• Risk management skills
• Previous exposure working in frontline banking operations
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Highly developed sense of ethics
