Compliance Officer Job Description in Saint Lucia
A leading finance institution with operations in the Caribbean region, including Saint Lucia, is seeking a Compliance Officer to join its team. The successful candidate will provide regulatory advice and support the compliance team in promoting compliance literacy across offices in St. Lucia.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise adherence to the Annual Compliance Programme, ensuring compliance plans are completed on time and identifying risks and breaches in internal policies or local regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with local, regional, and international trends, typologies, best practices, and legislative changes affecting the Compliance Programme, and communicate changes to staff as necessary.
- Review and update internal procedural manuals and anti-money laundering (AML)/combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) policies and procedures.
Other Duties
- Participate in product development by assessing compliance risks and providing opinions.
- Conduct compliance assessments, recording findings, and providing written reports as required.
- Review file reviews based on predefined risk-based rules and offer constructive feedback to managers.
- Develop training programs to mitigate compliance risks and review processes and tools developed by the Compliance Department.
- Maintain organized compliance files, monitor wire transfer activity, and process unusual activity reports.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, or a related area.
Experience
- At least three years of relevant experience in financial services, accounting, law, or a related field.
Certifications
- International Diploma in Compliance or professional Compliance qualification desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of Central Bank and Eastern Caribbean Central Bank regulatory framework required.
- Strong background in Compliance and Anti-money Laundering.
