Compliance Officer Job Description in Botswana

The Botswana Teaching Professionals Council (BOTEP) has announced a job opening for a Compliance Officer to join their team. Role Purpose


As a key member of the Ethics and Standards Compliance Section, the Compliance Officer will report directly to the Senior Ethics and Standards Compliance Officer. Their primary objective is to ensure that all aspects of the Council’s compliance are met in accordance with the Code of Teaching Professional Ethics, regulatory standards, and other relevant laws.

Key Performance Areas


  • Achieve allocated compliance assessments and audits within set timelines
  • Conduct efficient fieldwork on compliance audits, including site visits and record observations
  • Submit timely reports, including daily, weekly, and monthly updates
  • Maintain accurate and safe records of compliance activities
  • Resolve queries and issues related to compliance efficiently
  • Monitor teacher conduct against the Code of Teaching Professional Ethics

Main Responsibilities


Assessing Teacher Conduct

  • Conduct assessments of teacher conduct against the Code of Teaching Professional Ethics
  • Investigate reports of professional and ethical non-compliance

Compliance Audits

  • Prepare for, conduct, and follow up on compliance audits
  • Maintain accurate records of audit findings and recommendations

Communication and Feedback

  • Respond to queries and issues related to compliance efficiently
  • Provide feedback to teachers on compliance matters

Requirements


  • Degree in Law, Business Administration, Information Science, Compliance, Audit, Ethical Leadership/Applied Ethics or related fields
  • A minimum of two (2) years post-qualifying experience
  • Self-driven, attention to detail, orderly and systematic, confident, and assertive
