Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Advise and direct staff on safety regulations and compliance issues.
- Conduct monthly facility safety inspections to detect existing or potential hazards.
- Monitor air quality for the presence of hazardous chemicals or organisms and design mitigation procedures.
- Review construction plans for fire code compliance and conduct evacuation drills.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Carry out contractor inductions and assist in completing on- site contractor monitoring reports.
- Plan and administer operating division safety committees by chairing monthly meetings, developing agendas, writing minutes, and following up on safety-related issues.
- Develop and conduct safety training classes for personnel throughout BVIHSA.
Security Liaison Responsibilities:
- Serve as the focal point of contact for the security contractor regarding logistics and activities between BVIHSA and the contracted service.
- Coordinate orientation programs for Security contractors to BVIHSA processes, including physical security requirements.
- Receive reports from Security Supervisors/Shift Leads on any occurrences that may impact safety and security.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field with advanced technical education in related areas.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ability to obtain within one year.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong research and analytical skills, technical report writing skills, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of fire, building, and life safety codes, proper use of safety equipment, accident investigation process, and current occupational safety and industrial hygiene standards.
Abilities:
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive material.
- Efficiently manage time and workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Use prudent judgment and problem-solving skills to make decisions and recommendations.
