Compliance Officer Roles and Responsibilities at the Fiji Roads Authority
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is seeking a highly qualified Risk and Compliance Officer to join their team. This critical role plays a vital part in ensuring the integrity of the FRA by ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, professional standards, and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance in:
- Coordinating changes to the risk management framework and risk control profile register
- Reviewing risk appetite statements for the FRA and ensuring compliance with fraud management plans
- Manage oversight of incident management processes, ensuring that businesses report significant risk events to the Risk and Compliance Unit
- Coordinate responses to compliance and performance audits conducted by external auditors
- Investigate and coordinate responses to queries and issues, implementing action plans for gaps identified
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- A strong understanding of Fiji’s regulatory environment
- Experience in managing second-line risk and compliance activities
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to constructively argue issues with management
- Maturity and leadership qualities
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain an Audit Issues Register and track progress on addressing weaknesses identified in audit reports
- Conduct regular checks to ensure that all matters raised in previous audits or investigations have been satisfactorily addressed
- Provide review feedback for the FRA’s asset management plan and corporate plan
- Contribute to the formulation of business continuity plans and operations recovery plans
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will hold:
- A degree in commerce, accounting/finance, or a similar field
- Membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors or an internationally recognized professional body
- At least 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role
This is a critical position that requires someone who can work independently and make sound judgments. The FRA is looking for a reliable, honest, and trustworthy individual who can demonstrate their ability to “stand firm” and resist changes suggested by others.
