Financial Institution Compliance Officer Job Description in Serbia and Montenegro
A leading financial institution in Serbia and Montenegro is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer/Money Laundering Reporting Officer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the regulatory risk of the institution, operating as an Authorized CO/MLRO under relevant Regulatory Compliance Regimes.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in compliance
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a regulated Financial or Non-Financial firm as a CO/MLRO
Key Responsibilities
Compliance and AML Policies and Procedures
- Establishing, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining effective Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies, procedures, systems, and controls in compliance with applicable regulations and the organization’s KYC/AML standards
- Preparing and implementing the institution’s Compliance Monitoring & Screening Program as well as Compliance & Training Plan, and reviewing/updating them on a periodic basis
Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) Responsibilities
- Acting as a focal point for employees/stakeholders to escalate suspicions of terrorist financing or money laundering activities
- Managing AML/CFT risks
- Identifying, assessing, and implementing all relevant new legal and regulatory developments within the compliance framework
Collaboration and Liaison
- Collaborating and liaising with internal departments, regulators, authorities, and external service providers to resolve compliance issues
Additional Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining an appropriate compliance and AML training program and adequate awareness arrangements for employees
- Performing daily review, monitoring, and analysis of transaction alerts using internal data to identify trends and unusual activity, determining if transactions are suspicious in nature
- Discussing and documenting unusual transactions with program heads and stakeholders, reporting accordingly
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Previous Compliance and MLRO duties are essential (ideally 4-5 years’ experience)
- Compliance-related accreditations or qualifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CFE, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of the local and international regulatory environment
- Fluent spoken and written English is a must

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, or similar
