Compliance Officer Role Seeks Highly Skilled Professional in U.S. Virgin Islands
The Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join its team. As a key member of our organization, the successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external procedural, operational, and legal standards.
Job Summary
In this critical role, the Compliance Officer will monitor and audit control structures and mechanisms, identify current and prospective risks that may impact the organization’s compliance, and make recommendations to improve our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting or a related field, with at least three years of experience in a related area.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Coordinating Compliance Inspections: Plan and coordinate compliance inspections to ensure efficient operations.
- Assessing Internal Controls: Assess internal controls and make recommendations based on defined procedural, operational, and legal standards.
- Data Compilation and Analysis: Identify and compile data from interviews, audit visits, and observations to ensure accuracy.
- Staying Up-to-Date on Policies and Procedures: Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay up-to-date on policies and procedures.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Strong knowledge of government structure, policies, and procedures
- Sound knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies
- Accountancy principles and procedures
- Auditing software and programs
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good analytical and decision-making abilities
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
