Compliance Officer Responsibilities Take Center Stage in Lebanon

A Key Position in a Critical Sector

The World Food Programme (WFP) has issued an application guideline for a Risk and Compliance Officer to be based in Lebanon. This crucial role will play a vital part in ensuring that WFP’s operations in the country are compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Overview of Responsibilities


As part of its humanitarian efforts, the WFP provides assistance to nearly 1.1 million vulnerable people in Lebanon, including food aid and cash-based transfers. The new Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the Risk Management and Compliance Unit (RMCU), ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities


The successful candidate will be expected to perform a range of duties, including:

  • Responding to donor requests: Provide timely responses to donor inquiries on risk management matters.
  • Reporting and updates: Prepare regular reports and updates on the implementation of controls, highlighting areas of success and improvement.
  • Policy development: Design, develop, and implement policies and procedures that align with WFP’s Risk Management Framework.
  • Anti-Fraud Anti-Corruption (AFAC) training: Deliver training sessions to ensure staff awareness and compliance with AFAC principles.
  • Corporate risk system support: Act as a focal point for the corporate risk system (R2), ensuring seamless integration and communication.
  • Audit support: Support internal and external audit exercises, providing necessary documentation and expertise.

Requirements


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Advanced university degree: In a relevant field such as project management or financial management.
  • Excellent communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders.
  • MS Office proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Language fluency: Fluency in both Arabic and English is essential, with fluency in another UN language being a plus.
