Compliance Officer Job Description in Spain

The Regency Recruitment and Resources Limited is seeking a highly qualified Compliance Officer to join their team in Port of Spain, Spain. As a key member of the company’s regulatory team, the successful candidate will report directly to the Board of Directors and provide guidance on compliance matters.

Role Overview

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing expertise on laws, regulations, and policies applicable to compliance, as well as ensuring that the necessary compliance programme, procedures, controls, and training are in place. The role involves designing and implementing work programs to achieve department goals and collaborating with internal departments on compliance issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Programme Development: Developing and implementing policies and procedures for the general operation of the company’s compliance programme.
  • Monitoring Compliance: Coordinating and monitoring the compliance programme to ensure continuous compliance with financial regulations and laws.
  • Suspicious Activity Reporting: Reviewing reports of suspicious activity and remitting them to the FIU as required.
  • Record Maintenance: Auditing and maintaining accurate records of source of funds and terrorist financing activities.
  • High-Risk Monitoring: Monitoring high-risk individuals, entities, and non-cooperative countries and territories.
  • Compliance Audits: Conducting compliance audits and ensuring adequate planning for regulatory bodies.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Responding to queries from regulatory bodies and reporting on compliance issues to the Board.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in auditing, accounting or finance, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. A Master’s degree would be considered an asset. Professional certifications such as ACCA, CISA, CIA, or Risk/Compliance are also required.
