Compliance Officer Job Description in Malawi

Pakachere Institute of Health and Development Communication, a leading local health and development communication NGO in Malawi, is seeking to fill the position of Compliance Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s operations are compliant with donor and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities


  • Develop an annual compliance work plan to monitor compliance within the organization
  • Review reported data for reliability and integrity through automated systems and documentation
  • Provide consulting on policy and regulatory compliance matters
  • Orient new employees and management on core values, operating environment, and compliance aspects
  • Identify compliance weaknesses and areas of non-compliance, summarizing observations and recommendations for improvement
  • Support management with risk assessment ideas and mitigation measures
  • Monitor implementation status of compliance recommendations

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent
  • 3 years of audit experience in a donor-funded entity
  • Good understanding of working environments of cooperating partners, health public sector, NGOs, and private sector
  • Familiarity with NGO regulations and major donor rules and regulations, including those for USAID
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Clear understanding of governance, risk, and compliance requirements of an NGO entity

Salary and Benefits


  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and professional attainment
  • Full-time contract, renewable for 1 year
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week
