In recent times, there has been a heightened emphasis on promoting and developing risk management controls across all sectors and individual institutions’ activities. This necessitates the need for individuals who have a complete grasp of new and rapidly changing global and local initiatives, processes, and procedures that ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Course Aims to Foster Risk and Compliance Awareness Culture


A postgraduate certificate course in compliance risk management is being offered by Wits University’s Mandela Institute. The course is designed for individuals in the banking, pensions, insurance, and capital markets sectors who are tasked with promoting a culture of risk and compliance awareness within their organisations.

Course Outcomes


At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the principles, concepts, and practice of risk and risk management
  • Explain the multi-disciplinary nature of risk management within any type of organisation
  • Describe current risk management thinking, standards, and regulations across the world

Application Process


Applicants must submit:

  • A copy of their bachelor’s degree
  • Academic record
  • A copy of their identity document or passport (foreign qualifications must be submitted with a SAQA evaluation letter)

Certification Options


Participants can obtain either a Certificate of Attendance or a Certificate of Competence upon completion of the course, depending on their level of participation and performance.
