The British Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (Operations and Corporate Services) is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join its team at the British Embassy in Tirana, Albania. Job Overview

As a key member of the Estates and Compliance Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operational delivery of estates and health & safety. The role encompasses various responsibilities, including:

Key Responsibilities

  • Estates Operations (50%):
    • Monitoring and maintaining a planned preventative works register and schedule
    • Responding to reactive work requests
    • Providing effective customer service
  • Compliance (20%):
    • Managing inventory and warehouse stock
    • Performing property inspections and hazard risk assessments
    • Ensuring full compliance with FCO and local legislation
  • Health & Safety (20%):
    • Working closely with the Estate Manager to manage health & safety related issues
    • Reporting risks proactively
    • Delivering health and safety policy implementation, training, and standards

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Albanian, including good writing skills (minimum B2 level in English and C1 level in Albanian).
  • Flexibility and Creativity: Ability to learn quickly, with flexibility and creativity.
  • Customer Service Skills: High attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and work to deadlines.
  • Resilience: Resilience with the ability to deal with pressure and work flexibility.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

A degree in a relevant area would be advantageous. Working experience in an Estates/Facility role and health and safety knowledge are also desirable.

Grade and Type of Position

This is a fixed-term position for one year with possibility of renewal. The British Embassy offers a range of benefits, including private health insurance for members of staff.
