Banking Compliance Training Programme Launched in Ireland

A new Professional Certificate and Diploma in Compliance programme has been launched by the Compliance Institute’s education partner, IOB, a recognized college of University College Dublin (UCD). This programme aims to enhance skills, judgement, and ability to deal with practical issues in the management and practice of compliance in the financial services industry.

Programme Overview

The programme is designed for professionals working or aspiring to work in a compliance function in financial services. It consists of two modules:

  • Professional Certificate in Compliance: Introduces students to the theory of regulation and its application to the financial services sector.
  • Professional Diploma in Compliance: Builds on this knowledge by exploring legal and regulatory aspects of compliance and compliance management.

Programme Structure

The programme is delivered online through webinars, with exams held three times a year in January, May, and September. Upon successful completion, graduates will be able to:

  • Describe the role of the compliance function within a financial services organization
  • Explain domestic and international legal and regulatory environments
  • Assess authorisation, supervision, and prudential requirements for different financial entities

Designations and Certifications

In addition to the Professional Diploma in Compliance from UCD, graduates will also be awarded the designation “Licentiate of Compliance Institute” (LCI) from the Compliance Institute. The LCI designation satisfies the Central Bank of Ireland’s Minimum Competency Code for those who adjudicate on complaints communicated by consumers.

Fees and Funding

The programme is priced at €680 per module. Learners registering for the Professional Certificate in Compliance are eligible for a 50% funding subsidy through the HCI Pillar 3 Fee Subsidy. Learners registering for the Professional Diploma in Compliance are also eligible for 25% funding from Skillnet, subject to application through their employer.

Eligibility and Registration

To be eligible for the programme, learners must be current members of the Compliance Institute and register through IOB. For more information or to register, please contact [email protected].
