Job Title: AIG Bermuda Compliance Officer

American International Group (AIG) is seeking a seasoned Compliance Officer to join its team in Bermuda. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing critical compliance and risk services to support AIG’s businesses located in the island nation.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of insurance operations, as well as knowledge of key regulatory frameworks such as:

  • The Bermuda Insurance Code of Conduct
  • Proceeds of Crime Regulations
  • Sanctions Regime
  • Personal Information Protection Act

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing, monitoring, managing, and reviewing compliance with Bermuda’s legislative and regulatory frameworks
  • Overseeing the AIG Bermuda compliance program and ensuring it meets global standards
  • Serving as Appointed Compliance Officer, Money Laundering Reporting Officer, and Privacy Officer for AIG Bermuda entities
  • Maintaining and updating a suite of AIG Bermuda compliance policies, standards, and manuals
  • Conducting annual compliance risk assessments and providing updates to the AIG Bermuda Boards and Committees of Boards
  • Preparing compliance responses for regulatory filings and maintaining and enhancing the internal control framework
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with business leaders and stakeholders
  • Providing guidance on compliance matters to AIG Bermuda employees
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for Internal Audit and Compliance Monitoring and Testing reviews

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory position
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Significant experience and understanding of the insurance industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing AIG Bermuda insurance businesses
  • Ability to interact with local regulators and have some influence
  • Experience managing anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing programs for regulated financial institutions
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
