Compliance Testing and Auditing Boosts Trade in Gabon with Launch of PROGEC Programme

Ensuring Quality and Safety of Imported Goods

Gabon’s Agence Gabonnaise de Normalisation (AGANOR) has announced plans to implement its new Conformity Assessment Programme, PROGEC, from August 1st. This move is aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of imported goods entering the country.

Requirements for Exporters

Under the PROGEC programme, exporters will be required to obtain a Certificate of Conformity for customs clearance starting this summer. This means that companies exporting goods to Gabon must provide proof of compliance with national and international standards before their products can clear customs.

Role of Intertek GTS

Intertek GTS, a leading provider of certificate services, has been approved by AGANOR to verify the conformity of regulated products exported to Gabon. With its global services network spanning over 100 countries, Intertek will play a key role in helping AGANOR ensure that products are delivered safely and effectively to the people of Gabon.

Benefits of PROGEC Programme

The new programme is designed to protect the health, safety, and environment of Gabon’s citizens by ensuring that imported goods meet applicable technical regulations. The benefits of the PROGEC programme include:

  • Ensuring the quality and safety of imported goods
  • Protecting the health, safety, and environment of Gabon’s citizens
  • Facilitating trade between Gabon and other countries
