Enhancing Anti-Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Regime

The Republic of Moldova’s anti-money laundering and asset recovery regime is being strengthened through a joint European Union and Council of Europe project, “Enhancing the Anti-Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Regime in the Republic of Moldova.” The project aims to:

  • Identify, trace, recover, and manage illicit assets
  • Improve the capacities of relevant institutions to combat money laundering and terrorist financing

Moldovan authorities, financial and non-financial institutions, and civil society are collaborating to apply robust measures against money laundering and terrorist financing. The key stakeholders involved in the project include:

Project Details

The project has a total budget of EUR 510,000, with 80% co-funded by the European Union and 20% by the Council of Europe. The “Partnership for Good Governance” is a joint initiative of the European Union and the Council of Europe to strengthen good governance in the Eastern Partnership region.

The partnership provides tailor-made support to Eastern Partnership countries to bring their legislation and practice closer to European standards in human rights, rule of law, and democracy. The project will continue supporting:
