Cyber Security Training Programs Launched in Qatar

Qatar Finance and Business Academy Launches Cyber Security Training Programs

The Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) has launched a series of cyber security training programs aimed at equipping IT professionals with the necessary skills to minimize risks in their day-to-day work. The programs are designed to enhance Qatar’s cyber security capabilities and provide government officials with the tools to track the progress of their employees.

Foundation Track

  • A 5-day training program for IT professionals who want to acquire a baseline level of expertise and knowledge in cyber security
  • Held at QFBA’s Training Center or available online through Webex
  • Trainees have the option to select dates within available dates once registered
  • Upon completion, trainees take a test on the fifth day and receive a certificate

Specialist Track

  • Designed for Cybersecurity Specialists in governmental and semi-governmental entities
  • Consists of 15 unique course offerings across five tracks (Manage, Detect, Defend, Respond, ICS) and three levels (Practitioner, Advanced, Experts)
  • Duration: four weeks, spread over four months, with one week’s class sessions attended per month
  • Candidates undergo a track assessment before being recommended to take a specific level for that track

Cyber Range Course

  • A virtual environment (simulation) used for cyberwarfare training and cybertechnology development
  • Provides tools to strengthen the stability, security, and performance of cyberinfrastructures and IT systems
  • Duration: two days
  • Held at Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI)
  • Nominated candidates will be contacted to book a preferred date for the training

Trainee Activities

  • During the Foundation Track, trainees engaged in interactive discussions and case studies on cyber security risks and mitigation strategies
  • Participated in a mock test session to assess their understanding of the material
  • In the Specialist Track, candidates underwent track assessments before being recommended to take specific levels for that track
  • Attended instructor-led sessions with hands-on activities using virtual environments to simulate real-world scenarios
  • At the Cyber Range Course, trainees engaged in hands-on exercises simulating enterprise network attacks and responses

Reports

  • Government officials received reports on their employees’ progress throughout the training programs, including attendance, absence, and completion of program requirements
  • Reports on the level of each participant were also sent to employers upon completion of the Specialist Track
