Strengthening Defenses Against Cyber Attacks in Cape Verde

Praia, Cabo Verde - In a bid to bolster the country’s defenses against cyber attacks, LuxDev has launched a comprehensive cybersecurity training program for technical professionals from various public and private entities in Cape Verde. The four-day training session, which kicked off on October 30th and concludes on November 3rd, is part of the AU-EU D4D Hub project funded by the European Union.

Objectives of the Training Program

The initiative aims to equip participants with:

  • Modern risk assessment skills
  • Improved understanding of incident management processes
  • Master techniques and software tools used in response to cyber incidents

The training program is a crucial step towards bolstering Cape Verde’s cybersecurity posture, particularly as it positions itself as a regional digital hub.

Collaboration and Partnerships

Representatives from the Cape Verdean Ministry of Digital Economy, Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, and Parque Tecnológico Arquipélago Digital de Cabo Verde collaborated to design the program. The training session began with an opening ceremony attended by:

  • Secretary of State for the Digital Economy
  • Chargé d’Affaires of the Luxembourg Embassy
  • Chargé d’Affaires of the European Union Delegation

Positive Feedback and Success

The program’s success was evident in the positive feedback from participants, who praised the training’s relevance to their daily work. The initiative is a key component of the Team Europe approach, with both Luxembourg and the European Union committed to supporting Cape Verde in its efforts to enhance cybersecurity.

Study Trip and Cyber-Attack Crisis Management Simulation Exercise

As part of the study trip scheduled for early February 2024, participants will engage in:

  • Exchanges with key stakeholders in the Luxembourg ecosystem
  • Training in cybersecurity management
  • A cyber-attack crisis management simulation exercise

The event is co-financed by the European Union and jointly implemented by Enabel, GIZ, MFA Estonia, e-GA, ITL, AFD, Expertise France, and LuxDev.
