Strengthening Resilience to Cyber Attacks
Praia, Cabo Verde - In a move aimed at strengthening the country’s resilience to cyber attacks, LuxDev recently organized a comprehensive cybersecurity training program for over 40 technical professionals from various public and private entities in Cape Verde. The four-day training session took place from October 30th to November 3rd as part of the AU-EU D4D Hub project funded by the European Union.
Training Program Objectives
The training program was designed with the collaboration of the Cape Verdean Ministry of Digital Economy, Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, and Parque Tecnológico Arquipélago Digital de Cabo Verde. The objectives were to equip participants with modern risk assessment skills and improve their understanding of the security incident management process. Participants also learned techniques and software tools used in incident response.

Ceremony Opening
The opening ceremony was presided over by the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Pedro Lopes, who emphasized the strategic importance of cybersecurity for Cape Verde’s positioning as a regional digital hub. The event was also attended by Ignacio Sobrino-Castello, Representative of the European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Cabo Verde, and Thomas Barbancey, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Luxembourg Embassy in Cabo Verde.
Feedback and Future Plans
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing that what they learned during the training was directly applicable to their day-to-day work. The second action of the project, a study trip scheduled for early February 2024, will include exchanges with key actors in the Luxembourg ecosystem, training in cybersecurity management, and a cyber-attack crisis management simulation exercise.
