The Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit Conference 2023 (EFIUC 2023) was held last week from March 29, marking the second anniversary of the Unit’s establishment under the Ministry of Finance. The conference was presented in a hybrid format, gathering Estonian private and public sector professionals and international experts to discuss:

  • Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) compliance
  • Financial crime mitigation
  • Boosting Estonia’s financial system’s stability

  1. Public and private sectors - Day 1 primarily addressed the AML challenges the private sector faces.
  2. Law enforcement and related public authorities - Day 2 was a dedicated space for Estonian law enforcement. They delved into the investigation of money laundering and asset confiscation. Former US Federal Prosecutor Stefan Casella led this parallel session, reserved exclusively for judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officials.
  3. CTF topics - Day 3 returned to an open format, covering diverse CTF topics.
