Taranaki Regional Council Seeks Enforcement Officer with Thorough Knowledge of Resource Management Act
The Taranaki Regional Council is seeking a skilled Enforcement Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 and its associated legislation, as well as experience in enforcement roles or relevant industry experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all enforcement action is appropriately reported on and followed through to a resolution
- Provide technical advice to other departments and external stakeholders on matters related to environmental risk mitigation
- Be an active member of the Taranaki Regional Council’s oil spill response team and maintain marine and inland spill capability
Special Requirements
- Ability to undertake physical requirements of the position, including working outside normal business hours and potentially with hazardous and toxic materials
- Willingness to work under conditions where personal risk may be incurred and safety procedures must be adhered to
- May be required to give evidence in Court

- Be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work outside normal office hours as needed
- Look after yourself and others by working within the Council’s health and safety systems, policies, and procedures

Functional Relationships
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with internal stakeholders, including Compliance Team Leader, Compliance Manager, and Team Leader Prosecutions and Compliance
- Develop effective relationships with external stakeholders, including land owners, industry representatives, and the general public
