Eritrea Sees Rise in Financial Fraud Statistics
As the country continues to face economic challenges, a recent study has revealed alarming statistics on financial fraud in Eritrea.
The Study’s Findings
- The prevalence of HIV among the population aged 15-24 stands at 0.20%, with no significant change over the past few years.
- The percentage of children under 5 who received antimalarial drugs in the past two weeks has remained stagnant at 1.50%.
- A staggering 43.00% of women die during childbirth, making Eritrea one of the countries with the highest maternal mortality rates globally.
Sanitation Facilities
- Only 15.70% of the population has access to improved sanitation facilities.
- Rural areas have been particularly affected, with a mere 7.30% of the rural population having access to such facilities.
Prenatal Care and Child Health
- 88.50% of pregnant women receive the necessary prenatal care.
- However, the percentage of children under 5 who received appropriate treatment for acute respiratory infections (ARI) has remained low at 44.80%.
- Other worrying statistics include a high prevalence of underweight and stunted children, as well as a significant proportion of children who are wasted.
Financial Fraud
Despite these challenges, experts remain optimistic about the country’s potential to address financial fraud and improve its overall economic situation.
