EU Imposes Asset Freeze and Restrictions on Central African Republic
In a bid to promote peace and stability in the crisis-hit Central African Republic, the European Union has imposed a range of restrictive measures, including an asset freeze and arms embargo, against individuals and entities deemed responsible for undermining the country’s security.
Measures
According to Council Decision 2013/798/CFSP and Regulation (EU) No 224/2014, all funds and economic resources of those identified by the United Nations Sanctions Committee as threatening peace and stability in CAR are frozen. The measures also prohibit the sale, supply, transfer, or export of weapons, ammunition, military vehicles, and equipment to anyone in or for use in CAR.
