On December 9th, St. Kitts and Nevis will host a press conference to unveil its Good Governance Transformation initiative, marking a significant step in the nation’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability.

The esteemed panel featuring Attorney-General Garth Wilkin, Director of Public Prosecutions Adlai Smith, Justice Pearletta Lanns, Commissioner Dennis Knight, Chairperson Ricaldo Caines, Commissioner Sydney Newton, and Ombudsman Reverend Bishop Cyprian Williams will highlight key legislative measures that form the backbone of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Good Governance Transformation. These measures include:
- Anti-Corruption Act: A comprehensive law aimed at preventing and combating corruption in all its forms.
- Integrity in Public Life Act: An act that promotes ethical conduct among public officials, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Freedom of Information Act: An act that ensures citizens have access to information held by government institutions, promoting openness and transparency.
- Whistleblower Protection Act: A law that protects individuals who report corruption or other wrongdoing from retaliation or harassment.
- Unauthorized Disclosure of Official Information Act: A law that prohibits the unauthorized disclosure of official information.

Attorney-General Garth Wilkin praised these efforts, stating, “As the United Nations marks the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention against Corruption, our nation proudly joins the global community in reinforcing our commitment to uphold integrity in public life.”

According to Attorney-General Wilkin, this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day theme, “UNCAC at 20: Uniting the World Against Corruption,” resonates with St. Kitts and Nevis’ collective journey against corruption. He emphasized that the initiative was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Justice & Legal Affairs, the Attorney-General’s Office, and the Integrity Commissions, showcasing the government’s commitment to implementing good governance institutions for the long-term benefit of its citizens.
