Estonia’s Annual Financial Crime Conference: A Platform for Collaboration
In February 2023, Tallinn, Estonia, plays host to an esteemed gathering of international financial crime experts. The annual Financial Crime Conference organized by the Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), attracts renown consultants, heads of financial intelligence units, representatives of leading blockchain platforms and monitoring solutions, banking industry leaders, and Estonian institutions.
Matis Mäeker, the head of the Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit, shares his excitement for this year’s event:
“The conference offers a unique platform for us to exchange experiences and knowledge in the field of anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF).”
Insights from the MONEYVAL Report
Mäeker also noted the valuable insights gained from the recently published MONEYVAL report in January 2023. The report highlighted areas for improvement in Estonia regarding cooperation between public offices and the private sector. Moreover, this year’s conference features professionals focused on addressing these challenges:
“That’s why we’ve invited professionals who deal with the system as a whole.”
