Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Compliance Officer to join our team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring financial compliance with donor requirements and providing technical support to the finance team. This is a key role that requires strong financial management skills, excellent communication and training/capacity building skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the finance team in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and guidelines, including financial reporting and internal controls
- Streamline Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) methods for office running costs and project budgets
- Prepare and reconcile balance sheet schedules on a monthly basis
- Conduct monitoring visits to partner organizations to ensure financial management capacity building and risk assessment
- Identify key governance and financial management capacity gaps of partner organizations through capacity assessment exercises and develop plans to address these gaps
Requirements
Education
- University degree in Business Administration/B Com/BBA or equivalent
Experience
- At least seven (7) years’ work experience in financial management, with at least two (2) years in a management position
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, staff capacity building, and overall financial management of partnership programs
- Grant management experience with local partner organizations funded by institutional donors such as DFAs, UN, EU, EC, USAID Caritas, and other IF donors
Skills
- Excellent communication and training/capacity building skills
- Proven organization and planning skills
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), accounting software, outlook, and data backup systems
